Day 33 - The Sights of London - and the Kids are Tired!

We started off again early with a bus ride into town.  The one hour ride on a Sunday morning was interesting for both the local activity and the people.  A lady who sat near us was quite talkative and we enjoyed hearing her perspective on the Sunday markets, the neighborhoods, traveling, and Trump.

We arrived at Westminster Abbey and saw these two girls playing bagpippes.  I dod not think I have ever seen women playing the bagpipes.  They were quite good.

Westminster Abbey was closed for Sunday services so we wandered around a bit in the square taking photos of the prime minister statues and of parliament,.What a gloriously sunny day!

Big Ben, the bell, the clock, and everything cool about Elizabeth tower.

From there we boarded a Thames River Cruise and headed upstream to the London Bridge.

We toured the Tower of London fortification.  The displays of armour were awesome as well as the wire and screen sculptures of the critters Henry VIII once maintained within the walls.  The line to see the crown jewels was crazy long so we passed on that exhibit.

The Procession of Kings was a display of armour clad horses and the kings that road them.  That alone was cool.  What was really intereting is that they were created in 1647!!!

These were the faces carved for the display.

Elizabeth R.  She had a horse too.

Lots of "captured" art from the king's collection in the White Tower.

Cityscape from the walls of the Tower.

Next we boarded the Hop On Hop Off bus for a very long driving tour around the city.

The memorial arch.

Albert Memorial.
Kennington Place.

Harrod's.
Marble Arch.

Queen's cavalry.

At the end of the day we took the bus back home and enjoyed a quite enening and dinner.  It was a very long day and we were really tired.
