Day 10 - Kostroma

We enjoyed a well earned, relaxed morning and a 10:00 departure to the village of Kostroma to visit a 17th century monastary with magnificent frescoes.  It rained most of the day as we toured the cultural hghlights of this medival princedom. 

Lunch in a 16th century wooden themed restaurant preceeded a walking tour of the museum of wooden architecture. There we were joined by a Russian guide interpreted by Natalia as we toured 17th and 18thcentury  farmhouses, meeting halls and barns. The highlight were two churchrs-a stave style from 1717 and a wooden beauty from 1565. The painted interiorswere  original!!!

We returned to our hotel and a relaxing evening and local fish dinner.
