We enjoyed a free day by taking the ferry to a nearby island where we toured another palace. It was a family day for us, just Rick, Bobbie and I. Frenchy tagged along and we ran into George and Marlene on the boat.
The Drottingham Palace was the summer residence...still used...and we toured the public rooms. Viewing the photos bear in mind that none of marble and stone is real. This is a wooden structure. Wow.
The surprise for the day was a guided tour of the 1725 theater, built by one of the queens to bring culture to savage Sweden. It has not been touched in all these years. Everything was original including the smudges on the walls.
We took the late ferry back into town and got on board a touring bus for the rest of the day. We were tired and it was a nice change from all of the walking.
