Day 7 - A Free Day in Moscow

Bobbie and I were joined by John, Denise and Carol for a shoe shopping adventure. We realized early on we were woefully stocked with winter footwear and began a somewhat futile search for the elusive size 14s. After street walking for a couple of miles of shops waand haphazard Google translated conversations with Russian locals, we found a Sportsmaster store...Russia's answer to our REI. John scored a pair, we did not.

We gave up the search and ventured into the metro system. The Moscow stations (the Prople's Palaces) did not disappoint.  There are 14 major lines and a circle. We hit most of them getting on and off repeatedly for awe and photos...the whole ride costing less than a dollar.

After a few hours it was time for lunch.  We went topside, found a very lical shopping center and a Rusdian food court. With everthing in Russian we pointed at pictures and food on display. We ended up with a smorgasbord of local delacirs... enough for teice our group, and all for about $20.

We teturned to the metro, boarded the circle line, and saw a frw more oalaces before getting off and walking a frw miles back to the hotel. Carol snd Denise will think twice about joining anither of our ealkabouts. LOL  We had a nap and then centured out in the pouring rain and heeling wind got a nighttime view of Red Square.  The buildings were all lit up and we had the olsce pretty much to ourselves. Drenched and blown around, we found a localnpuzza oarlor for dinner and then heafed back to the hotel to dry up. It was a really fun day.
