Our Last Club Adventure - Days 5&6 - Chitwan National Park

Handy Quick Links to our Blog Highlights

We were up at 4 AM and on the road before traffic.  The road wound out of \Kathmandu and through the mountains as we lost elevation making our way to the flatlands of Nepal.

Our breakfast stop was at a roadside Dahba (restaurant) were we enjoyed some nice omelets while the lads tightened the lug nuts of the tires.

Back on the road it was another few hours of winding downhills curves until we reached Chitwan National Park and our lovely resort hotel.

A grand lunch buffet was awaiting us.

Some took off on a long bike ride through the local villages.  We ran into quite a few working elephants.

Rice stray drying to be used for roofing.

We had a guide an he gave us a nice introduction to the local village, its people and customs.

We returned to the resort in time to enjoy a beverage while watching the sun set over the river.

We woke early for a canoe safari along the river and then into the forest.

Some bathing elephants.
A lonely crocodile contemplating his next meal.
We got out of the canoes and started our trek through the forest in search of rhino and tiger.
Lots of foot prints but no critters.

Tiger claw scratches on the tree.

Dragon vine.  Check out the thorns.

 Great bird sightings.;
We returned to the lodge for some free time before lunch followed by an afternoon game drive into the 20,000 lakes region.

 Great Sloth Bear.

 Beautiful lake setting

And then a grand black rhino crossed the road and posed for photos!!!

 Spotted deer.
Later that evening a few of the group enjoyed a culture show.
