Day 14 - Transferring to Copenhagen - AND - a Surprise Turn of Events.

We left our lovely East Berlin hotel and headed to the Berlin Central Station to catch our train to Copenhagen.  It was a short, quick ride and once there I visited the information center to get some directions to the train.  It was at that point that we realized we were not booked on a train, but on a bus.  Of course our immediate reaction was dismay at the thought of a LONG bus ride and shades of that 25 hour ordeal in Argentina many years ago reared its head.  However, the humorus and helpful lass in the booth informed me that the train would have been just as long, not as comfortable, adn twice the price.

With that we boarded our second floor bus for the ride north.  The bus was indeed comfortable, the seats spacious, and it was fully equipped with a toilet, vending machine for drinks and snacks, and free Wifi and Entertainment!  The ride was great traveling through the farmland of norhern Germany.

The surprise came after two hours when we arrived at the port of Rostov and were informed that we were taking a ferry across the Baltic Sea and on to Copenhagen.  The ferry was ultra luxurious with two restaurants, a couple of bars, a casino, and plenty of huge windows to view the sea, the cargo traffic, and sporting boats.  The weather had cleared and it was a really nice two hour trip across the water.  The boat was barely full so there was plenty of room to roam.

Off the ferry our bus continued another two hours through the rolling green farmlands of Denmark reaching Copenhagen Central Station around 5 PM.  A four block walk got us to our hotel right in the center of town.  The Savoy Hotel!  What an amazing surprise again!  A small family run hotel freshly renovated in ultra Danish modern with all the bells and whistles.
