Day 2 - Paris - A VERY FULL Day - Monte Marte, Dali Museum, Opera House (sorta), a Great Paris Film, Plaza de Vendome, Place du Concorde, Musee L'Orangerie, a Welcome Dinner, and Sunset from the Montparnasse Tower.

We started out with a "getting to know the Metro system," ride and then a short walk to the Sacre-Couer cathedral where we toured the church enjoyed the amazing views of Paris.  The ride on the funicular was fun as well.  The catherdral is on the highest point of land in Paris and is made of while limestone so it shines.

The architecture is amazing with a huge dome and large vaulted nave.

Beautiful painted side domes as well, in addition to over the main altar.

We left the church and wandered through Monte Marte's artist colony to the Dali Museum.

Quite the odd one, the artist is depicted at differnt times of his life and how life events altered and aided him in creating some pretty awesome absurdy, as well as profoundly legitmate art.

Slow clock.
Mother.  Wild stuff...enjoy the art show....

His "wife" was a bit odd as well...this is them is their later years.

We left the gallery and headed to the next Metro station.  From there we transfered a few times to get to the Garnier Opera House.

The ticket office was closed until later on so we ate our picnic lunch on the front steps. It was great fun munching and watched the show in front of us, people and traffic.

Following our picnic, we went to see the Paris Story movie that we had enjoyed last week.  It was a great way to relax a bit and watch a great film again.

Our sedon attempt to tour the museum was a failure as well...terrible system...over-booked and such.  We brushed off the miss and headed through the jewelry district to the Plaza de Vendome.

The Napolean Column is bronze, with a grand green patina.  The carving is admirable.  We wandered the plaza window shopping and taking a few photoes.

Virginia attempted to mount a traffic barrier and missed.
From there we wandered the western side of the Tulleries garden for a short time.

The we jumped back into the Museum L'Orangerie to share the Monets once again with our new additions.  They were as taken as we were.  I had a chance to visit some of my favorites in the lower galleries once again.  Enjoy.

Oustside again we wandered back to the Plaze du Concorder to view the obelisk and fountains.

We boarded the Metro again for a quick trip to Montparnassee and our welcome dinner.  We chose a smart little bistro on the corner and got some great booths in the section styled like a railroad car. The food was delicious.

I didn't take any photos once in the tower.  If you are curious you can go back to an earlier entry, Day 5-6 - Paris on Our Own.  The ride back to the hotel was sweet with one of the causeways between stations celebrating adoption.
