Waking early our day included visit to the ancient Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves - a set of a small temples in the rock face dating from the 6th to 11th Centuries AD. We beat the head of the day and the visit was tremendous is scope and grandeur.
The main temple is cut out of the mountain and is almost entirely intact.
Everything you see is cut from solid rock where it stands.

The entire UNESCO area was beautifully landscaped with flowering trees and bushes, lovely walkways, and plenty of shade trees.
