Perth to Darwin - Day One

We departed our lovely beach villa early and took our time winding through luxurious beachfront property and spectacular coastline.  The surfers were in full force and the water was pristine.  We stayed as close to the coast as possible.  The homes were multi-million dollar statements to "prosperity at the sea."

Eventually we found out way to the highway and headed a bit further north to Yanchep National Park to view the koalas and walk the cave trail.  The park was beautifully maintained with buildings dating back to the early 1900s.

There were a few in the trees.  They were pretty sleepy and this guy was not happy that I asked him to turn around.

The trail through the cave system was well maintained.  It was only 10AM and already pretty hot.

Once we descended down into the gorge it cooled off a bit.  We learned that we were walking through a former underground streambed.  The fossile formations were great.

There were so many amazing trees and many had unusual flowers.  This one was exceptional.
The coastline was dotted with long stretches of sand dunes.  Tomorrow we will drive back down to Namburg National Park for a closer look.

We stopped along the way and found a shady spot for lunch, Bobbie took a nap, and we enjoyed the sounds of the surf and the breeze in the trees.  We arrived at our caravan park where we have rented a chalet for five nights.  Thank you Expedia reward points for the free accommodations!
