We had a big day planned so we departed early driving almost due east and across the border into Nothern Ireland.  It is an open border so there was no ID check.  We stopped for gas and got some Irish Pounds and then drove on to the coast and the small resort town of Portrush.  The place was mobbed with tourists finishing up their Easter holiday and it took us a while to find a spot to park.  Once checked in to our really nice apartment in the center of town, we enjoyed a quiet evening watching TV.

The following morning we got up early again and made our way to the Giant's Causeway.  A huge volcanic columnar site.  We parked and viewed the exhitis in the visitor center and then walked the trail out to the columns.  It was a beautiful sunny day...and could not have been more perfect to view this natural wonder.

From the site we drove again along the coast to the Carrick Rope Bridge.  Another national trust site and home to a location for Game of Thrones.  The walk from the parking lot to the bridge was up and down and took almost an hour.  Once there we crossed the bridge, took dozens of photos, and returned.

The balance of the day was spent driving south to Belfast and to our townhouse for the next three nights.
