We departed Helsinki midday on the high speed Allegro train. Super fast and comfortable. Customs and immigration was a breeze, although our initial reaction to the serious and stern looking enforcement officers was at first a bit alarming. They did escort aRussian woman into custody for trying to bring in alarge amount of expensive jewelry.
We arrived after dark, were met by our attractive, extremely well-spoken guide, and escorted to our very nice hotel.
A few beers and snacks at the rooftop bar was folliwed by a later arrival of Don, Dianna, and Aleana. Verena, Marie, and our dear John joined in and our St. Petersburg group was complete.
